Best things to do in Glenorchy or Kinloch when the sun goes down

Rain or shine, you're never short of things to do at the top of Lake Wakatipu in the daytime...

But it's the same once the sun goes down too. Despite the quiet, slow-paced way of life, there are plenty things to do at night here in Kinloch or over the water in Glenorchy

Jam Night:

The last Friday of every month is the Kinloch Lodge restaurant and bar Jam Night where everyone is invited to come along and play or enjoy live music.

It starts at 8pm and there are free bar snacks and wine from $5 a glass.

So come down, have a listen, have a drink, have a laugh, meet new people and, if you're up for it, have a play.

See you soon.

Dinner in the restaurant or watch the stars with a drink on our veranda:

The Kinloch Lodge restaurant is open for dinner all year around (by reservation only in the winter) and offers quality meals cooked with the best, locally-sourced ingredients.

Check out our menu here.

If you don't fancy dinner, why not just enjoy a drink (cold or warm) sat on our veranda while gazing out at the stars.

We serve spiced mulled wine in the winter and there are cosy blankets and outdoor heaters to keep you snug.

Stargazing:

Away from the lights of Queenstown, Kinloch's lack of light pollution gives us some of the darkest skies around and, as such, some of the best stargazing.

So crane your neck an admire the Milky Way above the mountains.

You could choose to watch the stars from our complimentary hot-tub, from a table outside your room, from our restaurant veranda or from the beautiful Kinloch Wharf.

And best of all, it's free. The best things in life always are.

Relax in the hot-tub:

All guests at Kinloch have access to our complimentary lake-view hot tub which sits at a lovely 38c.

So whether you want to ease your muscles after long-hike, have a romantic evening with a  loved-one or warm up on a cold winter's day - it's the place to be.

Enjoy a Tipple at the local in Glenorchy:

If you fancy a change of scenery and want to meet the locals in Glenorchy then the Glenorchy Hotel is the place to be.

Just a 20-minute drive from Kinloch Lodge, they serve a range of international wines of wines and guests can sit in their comfy bar, garden or terrace.
